Kindle paperwhite v kindle oasis6/13/2023 I don't take baths and while I read on the beach like once or twice a year, I don't do it in the water, but I guess it's nice to have. I think if this device is like $200+ it should have physical buttons on it. Like, I think the Gen 2 or Gen 3 Kindle with the physical buttons was still better than any of the touch models for page turning. The Oasis side buttons are good but I wish they weren't capacitive touch. at least once a reading session at night. I wish you could disable the page turn buttons on teh screen, it drives me batty because I accidentally turn them like. I think if I went back to the Paperwhite it seem more jarring to me.įOr me, the Oasis is a much more comfortable reading experience in bed because of the added size on the margins, it gives me a comfortable place to hold it. I had Amazon points and my wife had just broken her old gen Kindle so I gave her my Paperwhite and then upgraded to the Oasis. I like the Kindle Oasis but I'm not sure the price justifies it. It would still come in considerably cheaper, and now that I'm thinking about it since Amazon stopped free shipping here because of COVID, the shipping price would probably end up similar so I'd pay about the same price for the Paperwhite + shipping through Amazon or a third party company I meant to say that I would pay a bit more for the Paperwhite model compared to the price of the Paperwhite on Amazon, not the Oasis. The only negative I've read about the Oasis is some complaints over the battery life, but I can't tell if it's bad or 'bad because it only lasts a week compared to 2 weeks on my Paperwhite' If the Oasis wasn't the only model available through Amazon I wouldn't even think about it, but I'm kinda tempted to get the 'best' model now. I want to purchase my first Kindle and I'm debating which model to getĪmazon only ships the Oasis model to where I live (even tho there are international versions for the 2 other models as well.), so either I have to buy the priciest model through them or pay a bit more (relative to the Amazon price) for a third party company to ship the Paperwhite to me
